Chunky Cheeks ("Lady") 2000 Bay 15.3h Registered Thoroughbred Mare

You really have to love the names they come up with for racehorses! Chunky Cheeks is no exception. We prefer to call her something a little more dignified, so Lady it is! She was transferred to us in the summer of 2021 from a Thoroughbred rescue in Kentucky. Lady is a Florida bred mare who had a brief racing career of 9 races. She then went on to produce a colt in 2006 (named Super Chunky, of course!). After that, we don't know what she was up to. Lady's identity was a mystery at first since her tattoo was not readable. Vets estimated her to be born in 2007, and we could easily see that. She does not look, act, or move like a horse in her 20's! A Jockey Club DNA kit finally solved the mystery.

Lady is an easy keeper, goes barefoot, and has good ground manners. She lunges well, and is good for grooming. She is currently being ridden under saddle, but is green. She is more whoa than go so far, and has a lot of potential to make a good trail or pleasure mount with some work. This girl is super cute, and would love to find a soft landing to have a family of her own!

Suitable for an Advanced-Intermediate Rider or Intermediate Rider working with a Trainer.
